Garden Spark, my personal speaker series about garden design, concluded its successful 6th season on February 23rd with a presentation by Austin designer Mark Ward, principal of Ward + Carr Design Group. Mark will show us how to think about and choose successful plant combos for our garden. For a fun twist, he’s using a fantasy-baseball metaphor to talk about plant selection. Beat up!
For anyone like me, who knows very little about sports, much less fantasy baseball, I want to assure you that it’s simply about picking the best list of players for your fantasy team – or in this case, the best list of plants for your fantasy (or not-so-fantasy not) the garden.
So put on your manager cap, grab your ticket and join us on February 23rd to learn more about plant selections from one of Austin’s best designers. Seating is very limited, and tickets can be purchased here.
You can learn more about Mark in an article I wrote about him garden design.
Imagination, baseball, and plant selection
Choosing the “right” plants for your garden means looking beyond the basics of function, maintenance and site adaptability. Sensibility, suitability, culture and neighborhood attitudes also come into play. Austin designer Mark Ward explores ways we can create successful gardens without a statistics-driven approach.
